Spring is finally here! We are so excited to enjoy the outdoors and the longer days, and as we’re on the go, we need to make sure we are staying fueled. The key to keeping up with our active spring schedule is to make sure we’re eating healthy snacks to keep us energized throughout the day.
There are so many great snacks that are easy, portable and most of all, healthy. Here are some of our favorites power snacks for spring:
Nuts - Nuts are a great snacks when on go. Two of our favorites are almonds and walnuts. Both almonds and walnuts are rich in Vitamin E as well as some B vitamins plus so many more nutrients.
Seaweed - Seaweed might seem like an unusual choice for snacking, but it is actually full of vitamins and minerals. Plus, seaweed provides amino acids, which help the body to build protein. What’s more, nutritionists say that the fiber contained in seaweed can even help to control hunger, making it the perfect snack to keep us going between meals.
Kale chips - Kale is a key superfood that should be on everyone’s regular menu! A great way to incorporate this vitamin-packed veggie into our daily diet is to snack on delicious kale chips. Purchase kale chips at the supermarket or make your own! It’s so easy — here’s how: just drizzle some olive oil and sprinkle on some salt, and bake in a 350-degree oven for approximately 10 minutes.
Beet chips - For another healthy type of “chips,” try beet chips, too. Beets are high in antioxidants and other vitamins like folate. Buy them at stores like Trader Joe’s or make them yourself by following simple recipes like this one from Cooking Light.
