Gearing Up for 2017

It’s hard to believe it’s almost 2017! It’s been a whirlwind year, and with just a few days left in 2016, for many people, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the goals we’ve accomplished this year and those that we want to take on in the new year. 

 

Making resolutions is great, but the challenge can be sticking with it and seeing your goals to fruition.  According to one study, while about 75 percent of people stick to their goals for at least a week, less than half are still on target six months later.  Whatever your resolutions are, make sure you are taking actions every day that are consistent with your goals, so you can form healthy new habits that help you achieve success.

 

What are your new year’s resolutions? As we gear up for 2017, here is some inspiration for goals to set for 2017:

 

Be Positive:  I truly believe a positive mindset is the most important key to being successful.  Since I was a little girl, I always believed in myself, and that I could accomplish any goal I set for myself. Based on this positive outlook, I just keep working harder and don’t stop until l attain success.  Just as positive thinking is important, it’s also important to take positive actions, including doing right by other people and doing right by myself. Gearing up for 2017, a great goal is to make a conscious effort to be positive in both your thoughts and your actions.

 

Cut Out Sugar:  This past year, my sister cut out sugar, and that inspired me to eliminate sugar from my own diet, too. I found it really helped me sustain my energy throughout the day, and I even found an app to download that helps me keep track of my sugar consumption. For 2017, consider making a commitment to cutting the sugar out of your diet.


Connect with Family: There is nothing that is more inspiring to me than my family. Every chance I get, I try to spend time with my family. Building in more time in your schedule to spend with your family can be a great resolution to make for the new year.

 

Try a New Sport: I’m a big believer in mixing up my fitness routine. Of course, my routine includes tennis, but I’m also at the gym, on the bike, stretching, strengthening, and more.
