Greetings from Down Under! I’m so excited to be on the road for two great tournaments this month. First, it was off to New Zealand, a gorgeous country which I love to visit.
This tournament is one of my favorites, and it didn’t take long for me to feel the love in Auckland when I arrived at the ASB Classic. I was thrilled to have won the Auckland Classic just a couple of years ago back in 2015 and was delighted to have the opportunity to be there again this year. I was sad when, despite a strong start at the tournament winning my first match, an elbow injury meant I was not able to continue in the competition. I will be very much looking forward to next year in Auckland.
Meanwhile, I’m totally focused on the Australian Open starting on January 16. Held in the city of Melbourne on the Australian coast, it’s the perfect time of year for this great tournament, as it’s summer in Australia, with temperatures in the 80s. I can’t wait for the competition to begin.
Of course, when preparing for competition, practice and training are paramount. But, my preparations also have to include packing, which means decisions about what I’ll be wearing — both off and on the court.
Since I was a teenager just beginning my career, expressing my personal style on the court has always been important to me. After studying fashion & design then launching my brand, EleVen, deciding what to wear on the court is more important than ever! What better place to debut the latest EleVen collection than on the court.
This month, EleVen is debuting my new Thika collection, and so I couldn’t wait to wear some of the great styles while competing Down Under.
In Auckland, I hit the court in a brand new Thika Raceday tank top in a bold color called Limelight. It’s lightweight, breathable, and the fabric is designed to protect UA and UVB rays. To go with the vibrant tank top, I paired a fun Flutter skirt, also new from EleVen. I chose the multi-colored Thika print and loved how I looked and felt in this pleated skirt with compression shorts, which provide the perfect amount of comfort, coverage, and performance. I completed the look with a cotton sun visor.
Off to Australia, I have much more great new looks from EleVen packed in my suitcase. I may choose to play in a Finish Line Jacket, which is great because it’s tapered to the body or a Centerstage cap sleeve top. For skirts, I’ve packed a Reflex skirt and a Fly skirt, both stylish and high-performance options. And if I want to wear a one-piece outfit, I have the new Competitor dress packed, too.
Whatever I choose to wear from my new line for EleVen, I know I’ll look good and play well!
