3 Simple Ways to Continue Training During the Holidays.
Posted on November 13 2017
The holidays season is here! This wonderful time of year often involves parties, feasts, and travel. The season is great for the soul and spirit but can take a toll on your workout routine.
Enjoying the season with friends and doesn’t have to mean departing from your training schedule, however. By keeping up with your regular fitness program during the holiday season, you can ensure you are ready for the new year and are in the best mental and physical shape to continue working towards achieving your goals in 2018.
Here are three easy ways to keep yourself fit during the festivities:
Plan Ahead: One of the keys to keeping fit during the holidays is to do some advance planning. Men’s Fitness recommends, “If you know you'll be out of the gym for a few days, plan on using those days as a recovery and amp up your training surrounding the trip. Rather than leaving your schedule up to chance, be proactive and set aside dedicated time to hit the gym.”
Be an Early Bird: The holidays are hectic, and your schedule might be busier than usual, so it makes sense to get your workout out of the way early in the day. “Get your exercise done in the morning, so you can enjoy the rest of the day,” suggests fitness expert Toby Huntington-Whiteley.
Bring Your Fitness Gear On The Road: Travel can make it difficult to get to the gym. One solution is to bring along simple workout tools that you can have with you while you are on the road. Huntington-Whiteley recommends taking a jump rope along when you travel. “It’s one of the best forms of cardio you can do, and you can do it anywhere,” she says, plus it’s lightweight and easy to stash in your suitcase.
Of course, bringing along a great outfit is also important. Check out the latest arrivals from EleVen for the perfect holiday workout wardrobe.
