A Day in the Life – Walking Down Memory Lane in Rome
Posted on August 07 2013
I love being in Rome. It’s my favorite place to be outside of my home in good old Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. When the sun shines here everything seems possible!
I am here in town for the Italian Open. This tournament has a long history, all the great players of the past and present have played and won here. When you go down one of the long halls to center court they have a gallery of portraits of the past champions dating from like 1800 or something. I made my debut on the wall way back in 1999, circa the time of the braids and beads. It’s hard to believe that was the last millennium! Fourteen years ago I was just starting my career and discovering the game of tennis. I have managed to win a few tournaments and live out quite a few of my dreams since that time, but more than anything I am happy that all these years later I still have that same big smile on my face and I still love the game.
One of the highlights of the trips was wearing the EleVen summer collection on the court. It felt so fun, feminine and sporty. I paired my tie dye top and navy skirt with large pearl earrings that I recently gifted to myself. My motto: Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize, no matter what!
My mom and I decided to take a tour of Rome on foot and take some pictures of the historical sights. We also stopped for a bit of shopping and ran into no one other than Serena. I posed for a few shots in some hats I loved, and my mom never noticed the photo bomber in the background. It’s so easy to prank my poor mom!
Even Harry had a good time and made some friends who were the same color but were just a tad bigger.
One of my best friends lives in Rome as well. Here we are at Alfredo’s, the restaurant that made the original Alfredo fettuccine. And what do you know? I went down memory lane again and ran into twenty-year old Venus who dined here 13 years ago. Seems like I haven’t aged a bit!
I have such great memories in Rome. Roma e nel mio cuore! Arrivederci!
